This manual has the most awesome collection of art work in it that I’ve seen. The manual contains many dramatic pictorial illustrations of the plane in action. Frankly, this manual is worth the price just to see the graphics. Not to mention the wealth of information on this Douglas fighter. Excellent high-resolution archived copy. Great illustrations and a great reference manual. Many detailed and comprehensive drawings and color reference illustrations.Introduction
This handbook has been prepared to provide the pilot with the information required for the operation of the Model BTD-1 Airplane, including all accessories and equipment, under all operating conditions. Specific operational instructions have been presented in check-off form in the sequence in which the operation should be performed and have been supplemented by detailed information wherever necessary. Illustrations, complete with identifying nomenclature, have been included to enable the pilot to quickly locate all controls and equipment.
The material contained in the five sections of this handbook has been organized to provide the pilot with as much information as possible without needless repetition. The location and operation of all controls and equipment operated by the pilot are given in Section I, "Description," together with pertinent data applicable to the power plant, fuel system, and oil system. Section II, "Pilot's Operating Instructions," contains complete operating instructions arranged in proper sequence and covering the flight of the airplane from the time that the pilot enters the cockpit until the airplane is tied down after completion of a mission. Detailed operation of any control referred to in Section II can be found in Section I. Section III, "Flight Operating Data," includes engine ratings and flight limitations and restrictions. The recommended procedures for operation of the airplane in all cases of emergency are given in Section IV, "Emergency Operating Instructions." The operation and use of all equipment which is not directly concerned with flight operation, but which is necessary for the successful fulfillment of the missions assigned to this airplane, will be found in Section V, "Operational Equipment." Various charts and tables for use in flight planning and operations are included in Appendix I.
By following the instructions contained in this handbook, the pilot should gain maximum efficiency and performance from this airplane.
